really preggie goats...

we took them out to graze on the path in the last few days, as the weather is picking up, and they are rather big - I hope you agree. They seem very peaceful lately, the usual bullying is absent, maybe they are considerate to the others' hefty disposition...
so, exciting times, hope we are not so sadly wrong as last year...

Blogging day is now settled to be Sunday afternoon, having a bit of peace and quiet here, Alan safely shifted by Pali to his Dark Dog, and there is a league-cup cup final, so he'll not be back till 7 or so.
Pali is not smoking and he cut down on his drinking, and he sticks to his resolutions rather impressively.

We have our "spring fatigue" at the moment finding hard to get going. Managed to clean up next doors' and make most beds, but the windows, doors etc still need a good going over, maybe the thought of spring cleaning causes spring fatigue...

Alan fixed his first solar warming wall thingie, made out of beer cans, he should talk about it really... will get pictures with the nice new to us wicker chair and bed-side table I got today from the big Pecs sunday market, where Mustafa was kind enough to take me. Mustafa and Tahar managed to get their residence extensions at last, thus the better mood. I had a thoroughly enjoyed and fruitful walkabout.

The other picture next to preggie looking Clary and Clover is
the hailstoning from a weird summer storm we had a few days ago after a sparkling day of 20C+.

more of Alan's reviews - we've been out an about a bit...

Korhely

Just off Kiraly Utca

This place has a sort of South American feel to it. There's straw on the floor and you are encouraged to throw your peanut shells, from the bowls of peanuts on the tables, onto the floor. The peanuts were in the past free but now there is a small charge, so tie your elephant up outside.
I had the Viagra, and before you get any ideas, its a dish of pork stuffed with hard boiled eggs and horse radish. Very tasty if a little hard to digest. Cost about £6. The beer, my favorite Pecsi larger at 600 huf. a half liter. Decent service and an interesting enough place if a little, OK a lot, contrived.

BACCHUS PINCE

Pécs Irgalmasok utca 6 – 8.

It dosen't look much as you make your way up the slightly univiting passage and down a set of steps, but if you like cellars you'll like this. Just the arching of the brick work is worth a look if you're into bricks, that is.
We didn't really give it a fair trial as we both had the set meal, as here there were a choice of about 6 dishes for this cheap and quick option. Mine was deep fried pork with rice and sweet pickled cabbage, the starter being a bone soup. The soup was a little salty but the food was fine and you can't really complain when the cost is about £2.25

I'll go back and try again to check it out further.

back to sunny Kiskassa

well, today at last - past 20C when the thermometer got direct sunshine... But there are giant mounds of dirty snow everywhere. Anna said they worked their arses to the bone (??) to shovel all the snow in front - quite a long pavement we have. In Hungary you are expected by law to keep your part clear, and in the village you do get the stare if you not on top of your act - even if it is still snowing (in which case - what the point me think).

Anyway, our trip was really good, everything worked this time, even the Manchester weather managed to hold off it's worst, thought it was cold and sleety even snowy. Extra thanks for Eira and Sms who showed a comfortable and good time to Pali and Erika, who really seemed to enjoy themselves; they ventured into York and Liverpool on their own, and of course joined the Saturday pub crawl and curry in Manchester, amongst other programs. A big thank you to people who made an effort to see us - Frank from furthest away, but was lovely to see Paddy and Ann after a good few years.

In Budapest, where we had a 3 days stay before our flight, we managed to find a snooker table for Alan - if only 3/4 size; seen Auntie Edit - she still busy making great drawings - and little Feco, who has smiles and interest well past the 2 and a half months baby standards... Also, we went to see Michael Moore's Capitalism - very good - we are ready for that proper democratic control bringing revolution, please, get on with it...

Pictures show the very pure white village we left before our trip, and some Manchester shots and the Tim Bobbin in Milnrow, that is just "The Bobbin" now and is a bar, not a pub.

Oh, by the way, the goats look extremely pregnant, - but they looked that way last year... maybe they are a bit more that way now - or is it wishful thinking?? They are happy, as are the other beasts, Anna's Jozsi took good care of everything for us.
And, and... we have hostel bookings!! Also we'll have our first wwoofers of this year, too, in a couple of weeks.

pre-trip stuff

yes, we are off to Budapest on Monday, and to old foggy Albion on Thursday.
I present Dodi's pictures, he's the ex-drummer of Kispál és a Borz, as I mentioned it before, he's got a very olde worlde peasant house in the next village, and is very enthusiastic about cooking authentic Hungarian outside couldron meals for guests who are interested in such local curiosities. He is a very good cook, we sampled his hospitality a good few times, the food superb, the atmosphere leasurely and merry... jamming is included for the surprise number of musicians among the guests...

The fascist meeting went satisfactorily as such - only the sad candidate turned up on his own, and was "run out" of town; the eight people who turned up were from our council and not of a nazi-sympathising nature; he could not answer questions, claimed not to speak for the party and was gone very soon indeed. Appearantly, Erika, our post-lady councillor gave him a good piece of her mind - pity we didn't know about this "action", if it was indeed a planned one.

Dodi's pictures show a wintery Kiskassa, 2 from his house, one of the Pécsdevecser church, and Alan with one of his geese.
so, unless I blog from Milnrow, tara for a couple of weeks.
