harvest fest

I stole Lily's blog-report about the Kiskassa Harvest festival, with pictures (Lily is the latest hostel-guest turned wwoofer from California) but before I copy her link, a nutshell about this past 4 weeks - the holiday with the old girls was as good as ever, with more hanging around the pool and doing nothing much but reading and talking about nothing much... we even managed to fit a few games of scrabble. The boys had a chance to make very nice raspberry jam while I was away (I eat them all otherwise). The sad news is that Cat1 died, while I was away (on the day I left for the holiday) it was very ill for awhile, looking very thin but eating and sleeping all day, not showing discomfort as such. The larder is quite full regardless of the failure of some of the stuff due to the lack of a few months of rain. We had more friends from UK, Steve and Marlene, so we just had to go to the baths, had to eat cakes and had to have a good time again. While we were stressed for Martin for the Canadian permits to arrive, which they did eventually, so he's been tasting his new life in Toronto, enjoying the nice apartment Sharon found, organized, while she also had started her new job. The sheep spent about a month in Ujpetre with a ram, and now Hannibal is entertaining a nanny goat from the same place, hopefully a start of a cooperation. and now about the harvest festival via Lily: http://roamingcuriosity.com/2012/09/30/kiskassa-harvest-festival/ lots of fantastic pictures of strudel and kürtőskalács making there!

long time no hear sorry

Sort of too busy - Martin arrived, new wwoofers, quite a few guests and 4 days of Kiskassa Festival of Light, four days of events, exhibitions, communal meals and a gold medal for me for winning the table-tennis competition - just gone out of the habit of blogging, sorry. WWoofers more or less took over milking and taking out the goats. There are tons of tomatoes to process nearly every day, and big meals to think of for 7, often 10 people.. The carrots have been finished by newest wwoofers from Hong Kong, Jason and Queenie. Onions and garlic did well earlier. The "old" wwoofers are having a difficult day after having a few too many unicum and some dodgy hungarian label rum yesterday, being match day in the Dark Dog with Alan. Also Judith and Evelyn stayed for a week, that was fun all over the place with cooking and eating - gone so fast that I cannot really recall... Played a few nights the Discworld game, that was also fun. Been to the Siklos thermal spa about three times. I think I've been to Budapest for a few days, too. The drought is continuing, and the heat if not quite 40C, it is still well over 30C relentlessly, even though shcools started today. Had very few lessons with Zoltán with being away or him having been busy, he's sitting the exam on the 13th Oct if I remember correctly. Martin took the Toronto job researching clusters of cancer cell images rather than clusters of neutron stars - that's life. He's waiting for Canadian work permit and is doing all the reading up on his new field, but he's helping us, too, of course. In a few days I am off again, going with the oold girls to our usual annual week away together, back to Marbella for the third time, looking forward to it. So - another break from blogging - well, it is nearly still the silly season... Pictures show guests cooling method, wwoofers relaxing, the art exhibition, craft in the telehaz earlier, little customer for henna tattoo. I hope more photos from wwoofers and guests, promised.
