re-settled in Hungary from Rochdale, Lancs, England, and into a little village, doing a bit of greenish farming hoping for a quiet life... but stuff just happens...

kiskassa balloon day

we looked up the brillian sky at 11 and it was beaming with balloons!
Must have been a race or something. Two of them passed a tad bit worryingly
close to our house. I've never seen any that near, didn't know they make these puffing noises. Enjoyed it all greatly. And Martin got a job in Tenerife.
And there was an election campaign meeting by one of the village mayor candidates... with wine and pogacsa available by the ton... hm... Hungarian democracy ay work... however, he seems like an able candidate - what shall we do?? Alan's got the vote at local elections!

so it is mediterranian!!

look at pics of our (wild) strawberries and figs!! We bought these plants last spring
from a hungarian gardening magazin's mail-order. And now - end of september,
we have fruit! The strawberries are beautiful, the figs have a bit to go yet before eatable. I have no idea what we do with the later for the winter. The weather has been gorgeous with upto 30C in sunshine. Éva

we've been cut!!

Dastardly or just silly cjb.hu people cut our e-mail without warning.
So if anyone has sent us an e-mail between 10th and 20th Sept, it was lost in space, please re-send it!
Otherwise, I was away for 12 days, by which time the last wwoofers
Milan and Mariyana from Bulgaria left and we got another super wwoofer, who is Martin, happens to be our son, from Toronto. He's been a big help, just like all wwoofers, while still doing his projects such as sending a proposal telling a big telescope in Chile where to look. In July the Hubble itself will follow his command if it won't break till then... He's into magnetars, if I haven't told you yet,
which are energetic neutron stars with a fantastically powerful magnetic field...
Our field is (nearly) free from weeds and has large but frutless aubragines, tons of good kohlrabis still, sorrel, spinach ofcourse, good looking paprikas and listen: strawberries!! Either this wild variety is supposed to do this, or global warming is producing wierd stuff... It tastes just out of this world. Forgot to make pictures dammit. Next time. Also await patiently for pictures of yesterday's harvest ball and maybe some of Al Hambra... ok I did un-green thing and was on this long pre-planned airplane journeys... Éva

no time for words... another rainbow, this time with added suitably impressed wwoofers, and you can see Magdi (in her terrace) with the cauldron containing 50kg of plums, the resulting jam contains only 3 kg added sugar!! Stoning all that was not nothing!

starting to get stuff in other house to find their place... and had some diversion with garden features...
