The Elephant Trap

At the moment Martin is on hole-duty, it is a big one... a bit frightening in fact. But allegedly it is ready, all it needs is the plastic cover and brave people who'll get in it to plant things for the winter. Martin seems to be enjoying his physical strength challenge; besides this hard digging he carried heavy motor (the antique grain grinder needs recoiling) shifted and piled the wood, and tons of other such help Alan shouldn't do at present. He is doing alright minus a few wobbly days, mostly coinciding with dark and cold weather; but we are having a very welcome balmy late-summer week again, even the chilly nights have gone. Martin is here for only a week, until Friday. The weekend after that we'll be in Budapest for my other eye-op then from the 28th - recuperating for two weeks in Balatonfüred!! The trip to England (Milnrow) has been re-arranged 26th Feb - 12th March. We had more festivities, on the 28th sept harvest festival, should have made photos, maybe I'll get some from the villagers, whereby lovely witches were throwing cakes to the people (us) and free wine. Next day another free communal meal, which I joined on my own and took our share home, as Alan was not in the mood - it was an awful day. Following saturday was the annual pensioners' day - again, nice 3 course meal, again just me, as the cultural program tends to be a bit tedious, but as it happened it was not too bad and sort of shorter than usual. Raspberry still doing it's thing with a handful every second day, and if this week stays really warm I hope for more figs. We have our own "erős Pista this year; Tibi ground about 5 jars of ultra hot paprikas we grown. Pickled pickling paprikas and red cabbage, and besides the tons of pears and apples we should collect and do something with but won't, this will be it for this year produce-wise.
