re-settled in Hungary from Rochdale, Lancs, England, and into a little village, doing a bit of greenish farming hoping for a quiet life... but stuff just happens...

rabbiting

well, only two nice young mother rabbits, and we are half-owner of a male Hungarian Giant that is kept at Erzsi's and seemed to be busy-busy even on the way home from Pécs and Kozármisleny, with the new purchase. They seem to be pretty and alert but not particularily nervous. Bonzo reports every morning, that they are there but not worth barking about. Alan put seedling in his underground liontrap, worries me no end who and when will break a neck in there. On Wednesday we are off to Budapest and next day we'll fly to Manchester (all being equal) we'll stay with Marta, she's flying to Italy the same time, so we can share a taxi to the airport. We took off all thousand thingies from the walls etc to get it ready for - full redecoration by specialists, Sopi and crew, who will move the furniture and everything we failed to move and will put them all back when ready, and clean it up!! Everything will be done except the larders. Very exciting... and cheap. Keep your finger crossed so it will be 1. ready in time 2 neat 3 nice 4 nothing important will break. Quite a job after return - to dust and put everything back, such as the zillion music casettes/cds (most books stayed to be moved with the furniture, try not to think about it) so the interesting times are a-waiting. Alan is good, he was working hard, playing table tennis upto an hour (me two hours!) and besides the usual down-days, there have been no problems (knock knock and knock) pictures show again the lion trap outside and inside, one of the rabbits and the new wheelbarrow with a new-to-us big sail we found in an old sack here - maybe our new awning for the summer. so unless blogging from England, see you mid March.

Budapest break

gone a day later, as Alan can be wobbly at times and better to be safe than sorry. But we had a lovely time even if in the damp "warm front" that ended up being rather horrid. But there were gaps - we had a trip to the Craft Museum where most of the photos' come from, a walk through Ráday street - the new upcoming trendy place, in some ways better than the well worn parts around Király street. We even found the first ever Scottish restaurant we have ever seen - alas, no haggis on the menu, we have to go there next time to figure out what exactly makes it Scottish. We saw a decent little film, Saving Mr Banks, with the very watchable, as ever, Emma Thompson. Also met friends and checked up on fastly growing grand nieces/nephew including a very nice meal laid out by that tireless sister of mine, the hard labouring rakott krumpli and a mountain of pencakes and the company of the relevant rest of the family. Very pleasant if at times noisy affair. Meanwhile at home all was made neat by Erzsi, with a warm fire glowing for us. Today it is positively balmy unseasonal 10C+ and quite a bit more while the sun was out but alas, the rain returned. All livestock seem putting up with the winter well, even the limping old hen. Alan is tidying up out there, getting ready for plowing if the rain ever stops and for the rabbits! Yes, to the instigation of Erzsi we jumped on a good deal in the village and cages will be assembled this weekend, maybe breeding stock bought on the sunday market. Much easier to manage than goats and healthy meat source, Alan was pondering about this for years.
