the house as it is... plus the flowering strawberry

After fleeting bits of proper november weather, we are back to beautiful and worrying globally warm days. Yes, the strawberry is flowering... Alan asked to put some inside house pics on. I did my best, but I'm only good at outside pics...

getting ready for the cold season...

November – and we had some frost and exactly two miserable days with Manchester weather, but today, again, it was sunny and mild – I was comfortable in a t-shirt outside! Not a lot on this blog lately – we moved into the other house, and it takes time to get all the stuff and to get used to the “new” home... tons still to do, most importantly, to get a few curtains and carpets, and the tid-bits that make the place more home-like… I’m afraid, we only have 3 chickens left – one egg per day – no point getting any new ones now until spring I think. Goats are in season, they’ll be probably joining the other group in the village for a few weeks. What else can I say? We had 2 accidental wwoofers for nearly a week, Linsey and Shannon, they were as nice and helpful as the summer contingent, helped tons to clear the fields, dug up the poly-tunnel and packed manure, taught us to play texas poker, etc...
We are awaiting the winter with a bit of anxiety – the autumn was beautiful, but
we've just received last year's electricity bill … roll on that alternative technology. Otherwise we are doomed…
the gas central heating is far better and more efficient and cheap – but we only bought some time with it. We put the old sacks we found all over in the house between the doors and windows for insulation, and spread what left of them on the loft.
We still hope we get a heating-bill paying house-sitter, we had a lot of interest but no confirmed taker yet.
Picture shows me mum at her 85th birthday party in Budapest, with dad and sister. I figured, that there are not enough 85 years olds on blogs... And I have the feeling there ought to be something else interesting… oh, the other picture is from the Villány harvest festival.
